An expo so big I know I’m gonna be splitting them up by year! I was at AX24 for 4 entire days (with the 4th day as the day I was gonna take a break, only spend 5 hours there, and not take any photos (I did NOT keep that promise to my self)
This is the first con where I went from an f/1.8 lens on autofocus using an adapter to an f/0.95 lens with manual everything. And oh boy, it was a HUGE upgrade! It lets in so much and blurs out the background way more than any other lens I’ve ever used! You’ll notice a high number of photos too, not just because of the amount of time spent here, but because so many more came just in focus enough to be acceptable to me! I was scared a manual lens would result in less images but I was dead wrong!
Day 1
The first day sure was something. I was absolutely overwhelmed by just how big the con was! Every inch of the Los Angeles convention center was utilized. There must have been thousands of people waiting to get in right from the start! You’ll notice a couple of the photos don’t seem to be at the convention and this is because there were cosplayers all over LA that day, especially in Little Tokyo. Bless our weeb hearts.
Day 2
Dawn of the second day, this day was no less hectic. I went to not one, not two, not three, but FOUR cosplay meetups! The Madoka meetup was my personal favorite for this day. Look at the adorable little Homu fumo, I need it!
Day 3
Day 3 is a little more special than the first 2 because this was the day I got to capture an orchestra! Josie, a cosplayer and performer for the Tonario Orchestra asked me if I could take photos of their performance and there was no way I could say no! Once I did though, I realized it wouldn’t be so static as I still only had my 50mm lens. I was running around like a mad man and possibly too close to the performers for those photos you see below!
Day 4
Day 4 was my chill day so there’s way fewer photos here. That said, I couldn’t contain myself and had to go to the Touhou meetup! Love me them fumos!
